I'm a proud new Gopher Dad (freshman daughter) from California, where I was born and raised. Loved hearing from PJ, last Fall, that recruiting for football in Minnesota can be challenging given the popularity and dedication to hockey by the state's youth. I was 16 years old during the 1980 Olympic Winter Games and have tried to relay to my daughter how the country practically came to a stand still for a few days while the US National team (dominated by UOM players and head coach) shocked the world in what some believe to be the greatest moment in sports history. I'll be visiting Minneapolis to see my daughter in about 2 weeks, I'm looking forward to walking the campus with her. Best of luck to the Gophers.
