1500m Sweep Headlines First Day of USD Tune-Up for Bison Women


VERMILLION, S.D. – The North Dakota State University women’s track & field team swept the top four places in the 1500m to highlight the first day of the USD Tune-Up on Friday.
 
Reagan Baesler won the 1500m in 4:26.81, Jaelyn Miller took second in 4:29.49, Grace Link was third in 4:29.92, and Reagan Berg finished fourth in a personal-best 4:29.99.
 
Sophomore Arienne Birch won the high jump by clearing 5-09.25 (1.76m), and freshman Nyariek Kur was the runner-up, matching her personal-best at 5-08.00 (1.73m).
 
Senior Merrideth Spiers set a new personal-best in the discus with a throw of 158-11 (48.45m) for third place in the meet and No. 7 on the NDSU all-time list. Adison Kapitzke also registered a PR, throwing 152-2 (46.40m) for fourth.
 
Kapitzke took runner-up honors in the shot put with a mark of 49-00.25 (14.94m). Spiers threw a season-best 44-06.25 (13.57m) for sixth place.
 
Sophomore Kendal Stingle clocked a personal-best 1:01.56 for third place in the 400m hurdles.
 
The USD Tune-Up will conclude on Saturday.
