NDSU Men’s Golf Finishes Tenth at Hawkeye Invitational

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The North Dakota State men’s golf team climbed one spot on the leaderboard to finish tenth at the Hawkeye Invitational hosted by the University of Iowa at the Finkbine Golf Course.
 
Ian Simonich led the Bison in the final round of play, firing his best round of the event of 74 (+2). Simonich had two birdies and held an even par on the back nine of the final round to help boost him 12 spots up the leaderboard to finish in a tie for 46th at +10.
 
Jake Skarperud was the highest placing Bison of the tournament, ending in a tie for 27th at +6 after carding a 79 (+7) in the final round of the event. Rylin Petry was just behind at +9 after recording a 76 (+4) on the last 18 holes to finish in a tie for 43rd.
 
Josh Galvin was the final Bison scorer of the Hawkeye Invitational, finishing in a tie for 54th at +13 after tallying a +4 in the last round. Gabe Benson wrapped up the tournament, finishing with an 81 (+9) on the day and at +18 overall to tie for 67th.
 
As a team, NDSU recorded a 305 (+17) in the final round of the Hawkeye Invitational to finish in tenth of 13 teams, with a final score of 900 (+36).
 
The Bison will return to action in two weeks at the Summit League Championship on April 27-29, hosted at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Arizona.
