Fort Walton Beach Vikings vs. Choctawhatchee Indians

The Fort Walton Beach Vikings will challenge the Choctawhatchee Indians at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Walton Beach is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.

Last Thursday, Fort Walton Beach made easy work of Union City and carried off a 14-2 victory.

Cannon Wilbur was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs. Fort Walton Beach is undefeated when Wilbur posts two or more runs, but 6-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevor Camden, who went 2-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and four RBI.

Wilbur wasn’t the only one making solid contact: Fort Walton Beach kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The Vikings are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Choctawhatchee suffered their biggest defeat since March 27th on Thursday. They came up short against Sayre, falling 11-2.

Keeson Wheeler made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3. Ryan Saffo was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Fort Walton Beach’s win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-11. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Choctawhatchee, their loss dropped their record down to 14-11.

Fort Walton Beach suffered a grim 13-0 defeat to Choctawhatchee in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We’ll find out soon enough.
