SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Sophomore forward Avery Koenen has been named to the Summit League Women’s Basketball Academic All-League Team, the league announced on Wednesday morning.
Koenen boasts a 4.0 GPA in physical education and appeared in 33 games with a career-high 31 starts this season. The Montevideo, Minn., native averaged a team-high 14.5 points and team-best 7.9 rebounds per game, which ranked third in the Summit League. Koenen, who was named to All-Summit League First Team earlier this season, posted double figures in scoring in 24-of-33 games, including nine 20-point performances.
To be eligible for the Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team’s competitions.
Nominations are brought forth by sports information directors from the league’s institutions that carry women’s basketball, and voting is conducted by both the SIDs and facility athletic representatives (FARs). Each team is made up of the five student-athletes receiving the most votes.
