SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Redshirt Junior left-handed pitcher Nolan Johnson has been named the Kwik Star Summit League Peak Pitcher of the Week for the first time in his career, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
Johnson helped guide the Bison to a 6-3 win in the series opener at Omaha after tossing a career-best 10 strikeouts over 7.0 innings with no walks and no runs. The Lakeville, Minn. native sent the Mavericks down in order in each of the first five innings and retired his first 17 batters before Omaha connected on a two-out single in the sixth inning.
Johnson has notched a 3-3 overall record on the mound this season with all three wins coming in Summit League play. He’s thrown a career-best 39 strikeouts this season over 39.1 innings. In Summit League play, Johnson ranks third with a 3.33 ERA and has held opposing batters to a .209 batting average.
