NDSU Women’s Golf Prepared for Cowgirl Classic and Stampede at the Creek

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State Women’s golf team looks to close out the regular season with their final tournaments at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic on April 2-3 and the Stampede at the Creek April 7-8.
 
Wyoming Cowgirl Classic
Tournament Schedule
The Wyoming Cowgirl Classic will be a two-day, 54-hole tournament at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes golf course in Maricopa, Arizona. The first two rounds are set to be played on Wednesday, with the final round on Thursday. Start times for each day will be at 7:30 a.m.
 
The Field
Hosted by the University of Wyoming, the Cowgirl Classic will consist of 15 teams. Along with the Bison, the field includes UNLV, South Dakota State, Santa Clara, Eastern Washington, Iowa State, Northern Colorado, UTEP, Southern Utah, California Baptist, Grand Canyon, Sacramento State, Montana, and North Idaho College.

The Course
Located in Maricopa, Arizona, the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club is owned and operated by the Ak-Chin Indian community. Renovated in 2014 in collaboration between Schmidt-Curley and Fred Couples, the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes course is a par 72 with a yardage of 6,191. An annual Local U.S. Open Qualifying Site, the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes course prides itself on being a course that is both a championship level and player-friendly course. Featuring an Australian Sand Belt-style, the course sprawls over 320 acres of desert scenery and landscape.
 
Bison at the Cowgirl Classic
NDSU returns to the Cowgirl Classic for the first time since 2019. In their last appearance, the Bison finished 17th in the 20-team field, with the highest Bison golfer finishing in a tie for 44th. The 2025 event will be NDSU’s second time attending this tournament.
 
Stampede at the Creek

The Stampede at the Creek event will also be a two-day, 54-hole tournament with the first two rounds being played on Monday, and the final round being played on Tuesday.
 
The Field
The Stampede at the Creek will be hosted by Omaha with eight teams participating in the tournament. Along with the Bison and Omaha, the field will contain Western Illinois, Creighton, Northern Iowa, South Dakota, North Dakota, and Nebraska-Kearney.

The Course
The Stampede at the Creek is held at the Indian Creek Golf Course in Elkhorn, Nebraska. Home to 27 holes, the three nine-hole courses offer a variety of different 18-hole combinations. Established in 1992, the Indian Creek course is home to the annual Pinnacle Bank Championship, a significant stop on the Korn Ferry Tour, and hosts many other tournaments. The Stampede at the Creek will see a course layout that includes par 72 scorecard with a yardage of 5,988.
 
Bison at the Stampede at the Creek
The Bison are looking to defend their title at The Stampede at the Creek in 2024, winning the tournament title in 2024 with three golfers landing in the top 10 and all six golfers within the top 30 in the 64-golfer field. The 2025 event will be NDSU’s fourth overall appearance at the tournament.
 
Last Time Out
NDSU enters these final two tournaments after securing back-to-back top three finishes at the Jackrabbit Invitational and Red Rocks Invitational in mid-March. The Bison finished second of 15 teams at the Jackrabbit Invitational and a tie for third of 19 teams at the Red Rocks Invitational.
 
Looking Ahead
Following these two tournaments, the Bison will have just under two weeks off before heading to the Summit League Championship, held in Mesa, Arizona at Longbow Golf Club.
