Bison Sweep Summit League Kwik Star Peak Performer of the Week Honors

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota State swept the first Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Kwik Star Peak Performer of the Week accolades, league officials announced Tuesday. Brooks Turner and Zack Ramos took home the honors on the men’s side, while Anika Larson and Arienne Birch secured them on the women’s side.

Turner clocked a career-best in the 110-meter hurdles at the UTSA Invitational with a time of 13.94 seconds. The Bison redshirt freshman sits second all-time on the NDSU all-time list and is 18th in the NCAA this season. 

Ramos finished second at the UTSA Invitational in the shot put with a toss of 58-2 to kick off his outdoor season. The Bison senior followed that with a fifth-place finish in the discus with a toss of 165-5. The Caldwell, Idaho, native leads The Summit League in both of these events and is tied for 37th in the NCAA in shot put.

Larson crossed the finish line in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.80 seconds at the UTSA Invitational. The Bison sophomore placed seventh in the event while improving her personal record by 0.13 seconds and improving her national ranking to a tie for 49th. The Cambridge, Minn., native also placed fifth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.76.

Birch won the high jump for the Bison with a leap of 6-01.25 at the UTSA Invitational. The sophomore broke the North Dakota State school record of 5-11.50 that has stood since 2010. The Mississauga, Ontario, native ranks second in the NCAA this outdoor season and is now a top 20 performer in Canadian history.
