Drexler Leads NDSU Wrestling Seeds for NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – North Dakota State wrestling’s national qualifiers received their seeds for the upcoming NCAA Wrestling National Championships Wednesday evening, with Gavin Drexler leading the way for the Bison.
 
Drexler was named the No. 22 seed for the 149-pound bracket after a third-place finish at the Big 12 Championships last weekend and a 22-9 record this season. Drexler recorded four ranked victories. He will face No. 11 seed Sammy Alvarez of Rider in the first round.
 
Aidan Brenot was seeded one spot behind Drexler with a No. 23 slot in the 184-pound bracket. Brenot enters the NCAA Championships with a 20-15 record, including seven ranked wins, and a seventh-place finish at the Big 12 Championships. Brenot will go up against No. 10 seed Edmond Ruth of Illinois in the first round.
 
Kyle Burwick was tabbed with the No. 24 seed in the 133-pound bracket after posting a runner-up finish at the Big 12 Championships in Tulsa and a 25-11 record. Burwick finished with six ranked victories in his final season. He is slated to go up against No. 9 seed Braxton Brown of Maryland in the first round.
 
Tristan Daugherty wraps up the seeds for the Bison, being selected as the No. 27 seed at 125 pounds. Daugherty picked up two huge wins at the Big 12 Championships, including an upset of defending national champion Richard Figueroa, to qualify for nationals. Daugherty will face No. 6 seed Jett Strickenberger of West Virginia in the first round.
 
The NCAA Championships are set for March 20-22 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, being held at the Wells Fargo Center.
