NEW ORLEANS – Tulane scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning on a throwing error to pick up the 7-6 walk-off win over the North Dakota State baseball team on Friday night at Turchin Stadium.
Davis Hamilton gave the Bison (1-12) an early 2-1 edge with his first career RBI triple in the third inning. After Hamilton scored on a throwing error in the third and Dante Smith lifted an RBI sacrifice fly in the fourth frame, Alex Urlaub blasted a two-run double down the left line in the fifth to increase the lead to 6-3. Michael Lombardi answered for the Green Wave (9-3) with an RBI single into right field in the seventh to make the score 6-5, before reaching on a throwing error in the ninth to send home Tanner Chun and Theo Bryant IV for the 7-6 walk-off win.
Urlaub paced the Bison going 3-of-3 at the plate, including two doubles and two runs. Jake Schaffner also tallied two hits on five appearances.
Nolan Johnson made the start on the mound with four strikeouts over 5.0 innings. Landon Koenig added three strikeouts over 2.0 innings, while Danny Lachenmayer picked up the loss with four strikeouts over 1.2 innings.
NDSU will continue its series at Tulane tomorrow. First pitch is set for 7:30 p.m.
