Four Bison Earn All-Summit League Women’s Basketball Honors

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Sophomore forward Avery Koenen was named to the All-Summit League First Team as four Bison earned All-Summit League honors, the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon.
 
Koenen was selected to the All-Summit League First Team for the first time in her career, while senior forward Abbie Draper was named to the All-Summit League Second Team. Sophomore guard Molly Lenz earned a spot on the Summit League All-Newcomer Team and freshman guard Marisa Frost was tabbed to the Summit League All-Freshman Team.
 
Koenen highlighted the group after averaging 17.0 points and 8.1 rebounds per game in league play. Her 8.1 rebounds per contest ranked second in conference play. Koenen tallied double digits in scoring in 13-of-16 league games, including eight 20-point performances. On the defensive end, she was slotted third in league play with 17 total blocks. Additionally, Koenen posted six double-doubles in league play.
 
Draper earned a spot on the All-Summit League Second Team for the first time in her career after averaging 12.3 points and 7.4 rebounds per game, which ranked tied for fifth in league play. The Waverly, Iowa native posted nine games in double digits, including two 20-point games and two double-doubles.
 
Lenz landed a spot on the Summit League All-Newcomer Team after starting all 16 games in league play and averaging 7.6 points per game. The Victoria, Minn., native tallied four games in double figures in scoring and drained a team-high 26 three-pointers in league play. She recorded eight games with at least two triples.
 
Frost was selected to the Summit League All-Freshman Team after averaging 28.8 minutes per game to go along with 10.1 points per game. Her 10.1 points per game ranked third on the team in league play and she reached double figures in nine games, including a stretch of six straight from Jan. 9 against Denver to Jan. 25 at North Dakota. The Lino Lakes, Minn., native also contributed 27 assists with 13 steals.

Third-seeded NDSU earned a top three seed in the Summit League Championship for the third straight season and will face sixth-seeded Kansas City in the quarterfinal round on Friday in Sioux Falls, S.D. at Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.
