NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The North Dakota State women excelled in the mile and 200m dash on Friday, as the Bison women’s track & field team competed at the Music City Challenge hosted by Vanderbilt.
Sophomore Anika Larson ran a personal-best 24.34 in the 200m, moving up to No. 7 in NDSU indoor history. Freshman Elise Wisnewski was close behind with a personal-best 24.39, ranking eighth on the NDSU all-time list.
Bison freshman Riika Tirkkonen clocked a personal-best 24.52 in the 200m, making her 11th-fastest in NDSU indoor history.
Reagan Baesler cut nearly five seconds off her personal-best time in the mile, running 4:45.32 to rank sixth-fastest in school history. Grace Link ran a season-best 4:49.79, and freshmen Reagan Berg (4:53.82) and Jaelyn Miller (4:54.12) both recorded big personal-bests.
Sophomore Arienne Birch won the high jump, clearing 5-8 (1.73m). Freshman Nyariek Kur made her season debut in the high jump and cleared 5-6 (1.68m).
Senior Grace Emineth placed third in the long jump at Vanderbilt with a mark of 19-06.00 (5.94m). Makenna Vollmer took fifth at 18-11.25 (5.77m).
At the SDSU Indoor Classic in Brookings, S.D., senior Merrideth Spiers won the weight throw with a mark of 65-06.00 (19.96m).
Jacee Johannsen won the pole vault at SDSU, clearing 13-03.50 (4.05m). Unattached Bison freshman Casidi Pehler vaulted 12-03.50 (3.75m) to take second.
Adison Kapitzke set a new personal-best by more than two feet in the shot put, throwing 51-00.00 (15.54m) for second place. She now ranks 11th in NDSU indoor history.
Action will continue on Saturday at both meets.
