NDSU Women’s Basketball Falls Short Against No. 24 South Dakota State

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State women’s basketball team dropped a 68-53 decision against No. 24/RV South Dakota State on Wednesday night inside the Scheels Center at the Sanford Health Athletic Complex.

Avery Koenen paced the Bison (16-8, 8-3 Summit) logging her fifth double-double of the season with a team-best 13 points and game-high 11 rebounds. Molly Lenz tallied nine points on 3-of-7 shooting from three and Abby Krzewinski netted eight points with three rebounds.

As a team, the Bison shot 29.3 percent (17-58) from the field and 62.5 percent (10-16) from the free throw line. NDSU also grabbed 34 rebounds as a team with 10 different players contributing at least one.

The Jackrabbits (22-3, 12-0 Summit) shot over 45 percent from the field in the first half to open up a 34-24 lead at the intermission. South Dakota State then used nine unanswered points in the third quarter to increase its lead to 44-29 at the 4:00 mark. The Jackrabbits held off the Bison over the final frame for the 68-53 victory.

NDSU will be back in action at North Dakota on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
