NOLA Super Bowl countdown: Chiefs dominate Vikings | Super Bowl

Super Bowl LIX is set for Feb. 9 in New Orleans, and we’re counting down the days until the game takes place in the Caesars Superdome with a look back on the big Super Bowl moments in the Crescent City.

The Kansas City Chiefs had eight future Hall of Famers on their roster in Super Bowl IV, and six of them were on the defense.

The Chiefs were tasked with stopping a Minnesota Vikings offense that had scored more than 20 points in both of their prior playoff games, but the job wasn’t too tough for Willie Lanier, Buck Buchanan and their colleagues.

Lanier was one of three Chiefs players to record an interception, along with Johnny Robinson and Emmitt Thomas. Buchanan led the team with five tackles and was one of three Chiefs to record a sack in the 23-7 triumph.

The Chiefs have gone on to win three Super Bowls since, all of which occurred in the past five seasons. They’ll look to win their third in a row Sunday against the Eagles.
