NDSU Women’s Basketball Falls Short at Kansas City, 56-51

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The North Dakota State women’s basketball team saw its six-game win streak come to a close with a 56-51 loss at Kansas City on Saturday afternoon at Swinney Center.

The Bison (12-6, 4-1 Summit) led by as many as 16 points in the first half before the Roos (7-13, 3-2 Summit) climbed all the way back to pull within one, 51-50, with a pair of free throws from Kelby Bannerman with 1:16 to play. Kansas City then stole the lead, 52-51, with a steal and layup from Ana Oliveira with 24 seconds remaining. The Roos held off the Bison the rest of the way to steal the 56-51 win.

Abby Krzewinski paced NDSU with 11 points and five rebounds, while Marisa Frost also reached double digits in scoring with 10 points and four rebounds. Abbie Draper rounded out the top performers with a game-high 10 rebounds and eight points.

As a team, NDSU shot 37.2 percent (16-43) from the field and 77.8 percent (14-18) from the free throw line. The Bison also hauled in 38 rebounds with 10 different players grabbing at least one.

NDSU will continue its road swing at South Dakota on Wednesday night. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
