NDSU Track & Field Returns to Action with Bison Team Cup Saturday


FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State University track & field teams will host the Bison Team Cup this Saturday, Jan. 18, at the Shelly Ellig Indoor Track & Field Facility on campus.
 
Field events begin at 1 p.m. Saturday with the women’s high jump, women’s pole vault, and men’s weight throw. Men’s and women’s long jump will start at 2 p.m., and running events are scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. on the track.
 
NDSU’s jumps squad boasts the highest-ranked Bison on the NCAA performance list early this season, with sophomore Adam Dugger standing at No. 16 in the triple jump, sophomore Ella Gardner ranked 20th in the long jump, and junior Jarod White 22nd in the pole vault. Senior Merrideth Spiers is No. 23 on the national list in the weight throw.
 
NDSU freshmen Nyariek Kur and Reece Grosserode both also posted national top-30 marks in the triple jump for their collegiate debuts in December.
 
Among the teams expected to compete with the Bison on Saturday are North Dakota, MSU Moorhead and Valley City State.
 
The Bison women have captured 15 indoor team titles in 17 seasons since joining The Summit League in 2008. The NDSU men have won nine indoor Summit League team titles.
