FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State University defensive coordinator Grant Olson was selected to the 2025 class of the American Football Coaches Association’s 35 Under 35 Coaches Leadership Institute, which was announced Monday, Dec. 9.

The AFCA 35 Under 35 Coaches Leadership Institute is a prestigious program aimed at identifying and developing premier, future leaders in the football coaching profession. Selected participants are invited to attend the one-day institute that features a curriculum of interactive lectures focused on topics specifically tailored to emphasize leadership in the coaching profession, ethics, influential responsibilities, career progression, and family balance.

Olson is in his first year as NDSU’s defensive coordinator and sixth season as the Bison linebackers coach. A record-setting All-America linebacker during his playing days at NDSU from 2010 to 2013, he returned to NDSU in 2019 after spending two years as a graduate assistant at Wyoming (2015-2016) and two years as linebackers coach at Indiana State (2017-2018).

Olson is the third NDSU coach selected to the leadership institute. Former NDSU offensive coordinator Tyler Roehl and defensive coordinator David Braun were selected for the 2020 event.

Former NDSU tight end and assistant coach AJ Cooper, now the inside linebackers coach at Oregon State, was also selected to the 2025 class.

No. 2 seed North Dakota State (11-2) hosts No. 7 seed Mercer (11-2) in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division I Football Championship at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14. Tickets are on sale at GoBison.com/tickets.
