The Chicago Bears (4-6) released their final injury report ahead of Sunday’s Week 12 game against the Minnesota Vikings (8-2), which featured some notable updates.
The Bears have ruled out safety Elijah Hicks (ankle) and guard Ryan Bates (concussion) for Sunday’s game, as both haven’t practiced all week. But there’s encouraging news for running back D’Andre Swift, who’s been on the injury report with a groin injury. He was a full participant on Friday and is officially questionable, but it sounds like he’s on track to play.
Elsewhere, wide receiver Keenan Allen popped up on the injury report Friday after rolling his ankle during practice and was pulled midway through, according to Matt Eberflus. Chicago is “hopeful” Allen will be able to suit up against the Vikings. Rookie offensive tackle Kiran Amegadjie practiced for the first time in a few weeks, and he’s questionable against Minnesota.
Here’s a look at the Bears’ final injury report heading into Sunday:
Out
- OL Ryan Bates (concussion)
- S Elijah Hicks (ankle)
The Bears have ruled out guard Ryan Bates and safety Elijah Hicks for Sunday’s game. Bates suffered a concussion in last week’s game against the Packers, and he remains in concussion protocol and will not play. Luckily, Chicago is getting back starter Teven Jenkins, who will fill that left guard spot. With Hicks sidelined with an ankle injury suffered last week, it’ll likely be Jonathan Owens making his first start this season opposite Kevin Byard.
Questionable
- RB D’Andre Swift (groin)
- WR Keenan Allen (ankle)
- OL Kiran Amegadjie (calf)
Running back D’Andre Swift popped up on the injury report with a groin injury, and he missed Wednesday’s practice. But he’s practiced the last two days, including in full on Friday, and is on track to play against the Vikings, where he’ll likely split carries with Roschon Johnson again. Receiver Keenan Allen was a late addition to the injury report after rolling his ankle during Friday’s practice. But Allen said he expects to play on Sunday. Elsewhere, rookie tackle Kiran Amegadjie appears on track to be available as depth along the offensive line.
Removed from injury report
The Bears are getting back starting left guard Teven Jenkins for Sunday’s game against the Vikings, which means they’ll be at full strength along the offensive line and with a dominant Minnesota defense coming to town. Jenkins missed last week’s game with an ankle injury, but he’s practiced all week and is line to start Sunday.
On injured reserve/PUP list
S Jaquan Brisker: The third-year safety suffered a concussion back in Week 5, and he’s remained in concussion protocol ever since. The Bears finally placed Brisker on IR in Week 11 as he continues to recover, and the soonest he could return is Week 15 against the Vikings.
DT Andrew Billings: Chicago lost its run stuffer in Billings to a pectoral injury in Week 9 against the Cardinals. Billings had surgery and is likely done for the season.
CB Jaylon Jones: Jones suffered a shoulder injury in Week 9 against Arizona, and he was placed on injured reserve. He’s eligible to return in Week 14 against the 49ers.
OL Bill Murray: Murray, who stepped in at left guard for the injured Teven Jenkins, suffered a pectoral muscle injury in a Week 8 loss to the Commanders. Given the type of injury, it’s likely this could be a season-ending injury for Murray.
LS Patrick Scales: Scales underwent back surgery last month to fix a disc issue, which landed him on IR to start the season. He’ll miss at least the first four games of the season, and he’s eligible to return in Week 5 against the Panthers. With Scales sidelined, it’ll be local product Scott Daly getting the nod at long snapper.
TE Stephen Carlson: Carlson suffered a collarbone injury in practice ahead of Week 4, which landed him on IR. He’ll have to miss at least the next four games, which makes him eligible for a Week 9 return when Chicago battles the Cardinals.
WR Nsimba Webster: Webster suffered a groin injury in the preseason finale against the Chiefs after an impressive first quarter of action. He was placed on IR (with no designation to return), which officially ends his 2024 season.
RB Ian Wheeler: Wheeler, the “Hard Knocks” fan favorite, suffered a torn ACL in the preseason finale against Kansas City. While the undrafted rookie be able to rehab at the facility when he’s ready, his promising season is over before it even started.
