Cashman (hamsting) and Chandler (knee) will each miss at least four weeks.
EAGAN, Minn. — The Minnesota Vikings linebacker Blake Cashman and running back Ty Chandler will miss at least the next four weeks after the team announced they’ve both been placed on injured reserve.
The move comes one day after Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell said he expected both to miss some time, but didn’t provide a timetable for their return. Now, the two will miss at least the next four weeks.
Cashman injured his hamstring late in the third quarter while trying to run down Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams. The injury will open the door for Eric Wilson, who played well in an increased role on Monday night against the Bears. He also made an impact on special teams by getting a hand on a punt in the fourth quarter to help set up the Vikings’ final touchdown drive.
O’Connell said Chandler injured his knee at some point in Monday night’s game, but he was able to finish the game. Running back Zavier Scott, who missed Monday night’s game with an ankle injury, is expected to practice this week.
Chandler is the team’s No. 3 running back behind Aaron Jones, Sr. and Jordan Mason, so he didn’t carry the ball Monday night from the backfield, but he did return three kickoffs, including one late in the fourth quarter that allowed the Vikings to get to the two-minute warning before the final drive began.
