Holmen improves to 10-0 after hard-fought victory over Central | Sports

After dropping their first set 25-23, the Vikings rattled off three straight set wins to continue their unbeaten start to the year.

That first set saw 10 total ties throughout with fantastic effort and defensive displays.

The Riverhawks tried to use that momentum to carry them into the following set but the Vikings, who are coming off a state tournament berth, stayed composed and would take it 25-15. Holmen then took set three 25-19 and the final frame 25-17.

Charley Casey led the way with 13 kills for the away side, Sadie Mayer had 21 assists, eight digs and four aces and Macy Kline logged 20 digs.

For Central McKenna Michaels had nine kills and eight digs, Sylvia Rauch notched eight kills, Ellie Gillitzer had a busy night with 21 digs and 20 assists and Celia Christopherson had 23 digs.

The next MVC match for the Riverhawks will be next Tuesday against crosstown rival, Logan.

Holmen will face another tough test in a week when they take on Onalaska on the road.
