NDSU Soccer Falls at Idaho State

POCATELLO, Idaho – North Dakota State soccer fell on the road Thursday night at Idaho State, as the Bison fell to the Bengals 3-1 in non-conference play at Davis Field.

Idaho State (1-0-1) dominated early and took the lead in the 17th minute with a goal from Talia Coury on a header off of a short free kick from just outside the penalty area along the end line.

The Bison (1-2-0) would generate some momentum late in the first half with Isabel Garcia, Devon Kavanagh and Morgan Russmann all forcing saves on shot attempts. Idaho State would hold onto the lead and then doubled it early in the second half with a goal from Saydree Cooke, as she scored in the 56th minute.

Mikayla Carkhuff would score her first collegiate goal in the 67th minute to cut the deficit in half. Carkhuff took a pass from Kendall Stadden along the touch line and fired a strike into the top right corner from about 30 yards out.

However, Samantha Steele would answer back for Idaho State as she knocked in a goal of the far post.

The Bison will wrap up the four-game road swing with a trip to Ogden, Utah to take on Weber State on Sunday, August 24. The Bison will take on the Wildcats with kickoff set for 12:30 p.m. CT/11:30 a.m. MT at Wildcat Soccer Field.
