NDSU Soccer Hosts MSU Moorhead for Senior Day

FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State welcomes in Minnesota State-Moorhead on Sunday, August 31, as the Bison celebrate senior day following the game. Kickoff between the Bison and Dragons is set for 1 p.m. at Dacotah Field.

Series History
The Bison will meet MSU Moorhead for the first time since 2003. NDSU leads the all-time series 10-1, with the Dragons winning the first-ever meeting in 1995 and the Bison claiming 10 straight before moving to Division I.

Admission & Parking
Admission to all NDSU soccer home matches is FREE. Parking is available in Lot R west of Dacotah Field after 4:30 p.m. on Thursdays and all day on Sunday. Additional parking is available in Fargodome lots C and D.
 
First Shot, First Goal
Chloe Birch scored her first goal in NDSU’s win over Concordia St. Paul. The freshman’s goal came on her first collegiate shot, as she beat a defender to an incoming cross from Morgan Russmann and directed the ball in with her left foot.
 
Russmann Scores First of Season
After an 11-goal freshman season, Morgan Russmann scored her first goal of her sophomore campaign against Concordia-St. Paul. Russmann’s goal came in the 5th minute, the fastest thus far in her career. The Bettendorf, Iowa native is now two goals from reaching the top 10 in NDSU’s Division I history.
 
Goal Involvements
While Chloe Birch scored her first career goal against Concordia-St. Paul, fellow freshman Geni LaMarche also recorded her first goal involvement on Birch’s goal, with a secondary assist in the buildup. Maeva Lichtensteiger was also involved in her first goal as a Bison, recording an assist with the corner kick on Gabrielle Garrett’s header.
 
Six new Bison have contributed to at least one goal this season, with 11 total Bison involved in goals via scoring or assisting through five games. Last season, 13 different Bison contributed in goal involvements over 19 games.
 
Right, Left, Head
In NDSU’s win over Concordia St. Paul, the Bison scored with all three main shooting body parts. Morgan Russmann scored with her right foot to start. Chloe Birch then finished with her left foot, before Gabrielle Garrett capped it off with a header.
 
Russmann Cracks Top 10 for Game Winners
Morgan Russmann scored her first game-winning goal of the season against Concordia-St. Paul, giving her five after four in her freshman campaign. Russmann now sits in a tie for 10th in the Division I era for NDSU. Five former Bison sit in a tie for 5th with six career game winners.
 
First Career Goals
In the win over Concordia-St. Paul, Chloe Birch became the fourth and latest Bison to score their first career goal this season. At Idaho State, Mikayla Carkhuff added her name to the list with a rocket shot from 35 yards out into the top right corner in the 2nd half. Kendall Stadden and Isabel Garcia both scored first-career goals in the season-opening win at Green Bay.
 
Arnold Adds to Assist Tally
Hannah Arnold picked up her second assist of the season against Concordia-St. Paul, growing her active career lead for NDSU in assists to eight. The junior is now just two away from the NDSU Top 10 in the Division I era. In the win over Green Bay, Arnold recorded her first three-point game with a goal and an assist. After two assists as a freshman, Arnold recorded four assists last season, along with three goals, all game winners.
 
Russmann Adding Assists to Game
Morgan Russmann set up a pair of goals at Green Bay, recording assists for Isabel Garcia and Hannah Arnold, both with cutback crosses. It was the first two-assist game of her career. Last season Russmann recorded three assists, all coming in separate games. Through five games in 2025, she has already matched her assist total from last season.
 
Gabrielle Garrett Heads Way onto Scoresheet
After scoring her first three career goals last season, midfielder Gabrielle Garrett put her name on the scoresheet for the first time in 2025 with a header late in the win over Concordia-St. Paul. Garrett now sits at four goals and four assists for her career, with 12 total points ranking fourth among active Bison.
 
Every Minute
Entering the sixth game of the season, three Bison have played every minute. Defenders Amaya Garrett and Ellie Sanchez have been on the field for all 450 minutes so far this season, while goalkeeper Hannah Stipp has logged every minute in goal. Last season Amaya Garrett played 1661 minutes out of a total of 1730 to lead the way for the Bison.
 
Home Sweet Home
The Bison were 6-1-2 at Dacotah Field last season, including a perfect 4-0-0 in Summit League play. NDSU outscored the opposition 19-8 at home, including four cleansheets. The .778 win percentage was the Best for NDSU at home since also going .778 in 2017. The 2024 home campaign is the second best overall at Dacotah Field, only behind a 6-1-0 (.857) season in 2015. The Bison are undefeated at home in league play in the last two seasons, going 5-0-3 in the eight games. Overall, NDSU is 11-3-6 at home since the beginning of the 2023 season. NDSU is 58-30-11 (.641) all-time at Dacotah Field since moving in ahead of the 2013 season.
 
Looking Ahead
North Dakota State will continue their four-game stretch at home with game three on Thursday, September 4, as the Bison welcome in Clarke. Kickoff between the Bison and Pride is set for 6 p.m. at Dacotah Field.
