NDSU Soccer Wraps Road Trip at Weber State Sunday

FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State will wrap up the four-game road swing to begin the regular season with a trip to Ogden, Utah to take on Weber State on Sunday, August 24. The Bison will take on the Wildcats with kickoff set for 12:30 p.m. CT/11:30 a.m. MT at Wildcat Soccer Field
 
Game Coverage
Sunday’s game at Weber State will be streamed live on ESPN+. The contest between the Bison and Wildcats will also have live statistics. Links to live video and stats are available at GoBison.com/coverage.
 
Series History
The Bison will face the Wildcats for the fifth time in series history. Weber State leads the series and is undefeated against the Bison with three wins and a tie. The two teams met last season in Fargo, with Weber State winning 4-2. Weber State has won both meetings in Ogden 1-0, the most recent in 2017.
 
Last Time vs Weber State
Sayler Schlosser scored in the 23rd minute and then again in the 29th to give Weber State an early lead. Devon Kavanagh cut the deficit in half in the 68th minute, as her corner was deflected in for an own goal. 44 seconds later, Kavanagh scored from about 30 yards out to tie the game at 2-2. The game would remain tied for 11 minutes until Amanda Caswell scored on a rebound to put Weber State back in front. Caswell added a second goal in the 85th minute to seal the victory for Weber State.
 
Debut and First Career Goals
At Idaho State, Mikayla Carkhuff, a sophomore transfer from Florida International, added her name to the list of Bison to score their first collegiate goal this season, as she struck a rocket shot from 30 yards out into the top right corner in the 2nd half.
 
NDSU had two Bison score goals on their official Bison debuts in the season opener at Green Bay, with Kendall Stadden and Isabel Garcia finding the score sheet.
 
Stadden, a junior transfer from Minnesota, scored her first career goal and points in the 55th minute. Garcia, a sophomore transfer from Indiana State, then scored in the 58th minute for her first career goal and points. Stadden also picked up her first career assist on Garcia’s goal.
 
The last time NDSU had a player score a goal on debut came when freshman Tyreese Zacher scored in the 67th minute to help NDSU tie Boise State 1-1 in the season opener on August 17, 2023.
 
Bison Fall at Idaho State
Idaho State took the lead in the 17th minute with a header off of a short free kick. The Bison generated momentum late in the first half, forcing three saves. Idaho State doubled their lead with a goal in the 56th minute. Mikayla Carkhuff scored her first collegiate goal in the 67th minute to cut the deficit in half with a strike into the top right corner from about 30 yards out. However, Idaho State answered back with a goal of the far post in the 76th minute to seal the victory.
 
Upcoming Promotions
August 28th – Getting the Gold: Wear Bison gold and cheer on the NDSU in the first game at Dacotah Field of the year. There is a team poster giveaway and an autograph session with the team following the game.
 
August 31st – Senior Day: Help celebrate this year’s senior class by joining in on the post-game senior tunnel, as we recognize everything our seniors have done for the Bison and their remarkable collegiate careers.
 
Looking Ahead
North Dakota State will open up the home schedule for the 2025 season on Thursday, August 28, as the Bison welcome in Concordia-St. Paul for a non-conference contest at Dacotah Field. Kickoff between the Bison and Golden Bears is set for 6 p.m.
