FARGO, N.D. – For the second-straight season, North Dakota State soccer heads to Wisconsin for the opening week of the regular season, as the Bison start off the 2025 campaign on the road at Green Bay on Thursday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from Aldo Santaga Stadium.

Series History
The Bison will meet the Phoenix for the 10th time in series history on Thursday and for the second time as a season opener. NDSU holds a 6-2-1 lead in the all-time series dating back to the first match in 2004. The two teams played out a scoreless draw last season in Green Bay, snapping a four-game win streak for the Bison. In the only other season-opening meeting, NDSU claimed a 4-1 win at Green Bay on August 19, 2018.
Season Openers
In the first 30 seasons of Bison soccer, NDSU is 17-11-2 in season openers. The Bison opened up 2024 with a 3-1 win in Wisconsin at Viterbo. NDSU is unbeaten in the last three season openers, including a 1-1 tie against Tarleton in Louisiana in 2022 and a 1-1 tie against Boise State in Fargo in 2023. NDSU is 11-8-2 in the DI era.
Looking Ahead
The Bison will remain in Wisconsin to wrap up the first week of the regular season, closing the road trip in Milwaukee on Sunday at Marquette. The Bison will take on the Golden Eagles at Valley Fields, with kickoff set for 1 p.m.
Preseason Recap
The Bison opened up the preseason on August 2 against Creighton, taking on the Big East side in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The Bison fell to the Blue Jays 1-0 on a goal in the final 30 minutes, despite doubling up Creighton in scoring chances in the game. Payton Mulberry made two saves in her scoreless 60 minutes of action.
NDSU closed out the preseason in Minneapolis on August 9 against Northern Iowa with a 2-2 tie against the Panthers. Kendall Stadden opened the scoring in the 8th minute. After Morgan Russmann hit the post in the 10th minute, Northern Iowa scored twice in the 12th and 30th minutes to take the lead. However, Stadden would secure a result for the Bison with an 85th minute strike from wide into the top corner to level the game back at 2-2. Hannah Stipp played the entire game in goal for the Bison, making several key saves.
