FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State men’s golf head coach Ekren Miller announced the addition of Joey Mackinac to the 2025 signee class on Thursday.

Mackinac joins the Bison after three consecutive all-conference seasons at Rosemount High School, and a 10th place finish in the Minnesota AAA State Championships last season. Mackinac was a three-time qualifier for the state championships, adding 20th and 21st place finishes in his other two seasons. This summer, Mackinac finished fourth at the US Jr. Amateur Qualifier, including a round of 68, to qualify for the US Amateur in Dallas. He also won the Minnesota Match Play Qualifier, finished second at the Minnesota Boys Jr PGA Qualifier and eighth at the Minnesota Boys Jr PGA Championship in 2025. The Sports Management major earned honor roll all four years of high school, was a member of the National Honor Society Member, graduated Magna Cum Laude and was Academic All-Minnesota in golf. He also competed in DECA Sports Marketing, taking a second-place finish in the Minnesota championship and was a national’s participant.
Mackinac becomes the third Bison freshman signee, joining Carter White and Andrew Ballou, who signed in November of 2024.
