LIMA, Peru – North Dakota State wrestling’s Shilo Jones claimed the 2025 U20 Pan-American Championship on Thursday, winning the 130kg weight class in the Greco-Roman division.
Jones opened up the event with back-to-back wins by technical superiority, shutting out Mexico’s Abraham Avalos Canul and Brazil’s Joao Silva Diniz. He secured the first match in 3:49 and won the second match in just 1:41.
In his third match, Jones defeated Ibrack Angulo Castillo of Ecuador by another technical superiority in 3:38, winning 10-1.
Jones clinched the title in style, defeating Malcolm Nomel Lizana of Chile by a fall. Jones opened up with a 5-0 lead before securing the fall at 1:34.
The U20 Pan-American Championship is the third major title for Jones this summer. He claimed the U20 Greco-Roman U.S. Open Championships in Las Vegas in April and then won the U20 Greco-Roman World Team Trial for Team USA in late May. Jones will now head to the U20 World Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria, with the event taking place August 18-24.
