FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State University men’s track & field team had the maximum of five student-athletes named to the 2025 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, the organization announced Tuesday, June 24.
The Bison men selected to the CSC Academic All-District Team were Zach McGlynn, Sam Roller, Paul Olson, Brock Johnsen, and Brooks Turner.
The Academic All-District team recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom. In addition to meeting athletic performance criteria, nominees must carry a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average with at least sophomore standing. Schools are capped at five recipients.
McGlynn (Stephen, Minn.) earned a degree in agricultural economics with a 4.0 GPA and is pursuing an MBA with a 4.0 as well. He broke the NDSU school record in the decathlon with an NCAA-qualifying score this spring, but was forced to miss the NCAA Championships due to injury.
Roller (Thompson, N.D.) recorded a 4.0 GPA to earn his degree in biological sciences. He qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships and won the Summit League title in the javelin.
Olson (Oxbow, N.D.) is majoring in management information systems with a 4.0 GPA. He claimed the Summit League title and ranked 56th in the NCAA for the heptathlon this indoor season.
Johnsen (Bismarck, N.D.) graduated as a finance major with a 3.88 GPA, qualifying for the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds in the 110m hurdles and ranking 61st in the NCAA for the 60m hurdles indoor.
Turner (Bismarck, N.D.) owns a 3.54 GPA with a major in sport management. He ranked 44th nationally in the 60m hurdles for the indoor season and qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds in the 110m hurdles outdoor.
