The Northgate Vikings are turning a corner under Head Coach Kevin Whitley.
In a dominant 35-14 win over Osborne last week at Henry Seldon Field, the Vikings showed how far they’ve come since Whitley’s first spring game a year ago, a game in which Osborne gave them all they could handle.
This time, it was all Northgate.
The Vikings set the tone from the opening whistle with disciplined execution, physical defense and a relentless focus on detail. The sideline energy reflected a team not content with good plays — they demanded great series, which showed on the scoreboard.
The Vikings showed elevated intensity and a sense of purpose. With that kind of culture taking hold, the Vikings are expected to be right in the playoff mix in a competitive Region 3-5A this fall.
With spring practice over, Northgate now shifts its focus to the 2025 season opener — a road test at Starr’s Mill on Friday night, Aug. 15. If the spring game was any indication, the Vikings will arrive with momentum, confidence and a hunger to keep climbing.
