OMAHA, Neb. – Senior right-handed pitcher Logan Knight posted his second complete game shutout this season to help guide the North Dakota State baseball team past Oral Roberts, 4-0, on Thursday night at Tal Anderson Field.
With the win, the Bison (19-31, 13-15 Summit) will advance to the Summit League Championship round for the first time since 2021 on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. NDSU will face the winner of the Oral Roberts (35-21, 21-9 Summit) and Omaha (20-29, 12-16 Summit) Friday matchup.
Knight (4-6) posted his second complete game shutout of the season with three strikeouts, three hits and three walks over a career-long 9.0 innings. He recorded his first complete game of the season in the 3-0 win at Oral Roberts on March 15 with seven strikeouts over 9.0 innings.
Evan Gustafson got the Bison off to a fast start after he delivered a two RBI single into right center to make the score 2-0 in the first inning. Gustafson then added his third RBI of the game after he lifted a sacrifice fly to stretch the lead to 3-0 in the third inning. Blake Timmons capped off the frame with an RBI single through the left side to push the edge to 4-0. Both teams then battled through six scoreless innings as the Bison capitalized on a season-high three double plays to help secure their second straight shutout victory.
It marked the second time NDSU has posted two shutouts in the Summit League Championship since accomplishing the feat in 2013.
As a team, the Bison totaled seven hits with Colten Becker going 2-of-3 at the plate with one run.
