It stinks when a draft pick doesn’t work out in the NFL. Sadly, the Minnesota Vikings have endured more than their fair share of selections in the first three rounds who don’t make it through their rookie deals.
One pick that didn’t quite work out for the Vikings was Cameron Dantzler. The former Mississippi State cornerback was a third-round pick of Minnesota in the 2020 NFL Draft but was released in 2023.
Although things didn’t work out in the NFL for Dantzler after bouncing around the league for a while, he found more opportunities by joining the CFL and UFL. In 2025, he found his way to the Memphis Showboats.

On Friday, the Memphis Showboats took on the San Antonio Brahmas in a UFL showdown that pit the team at the bottom of the XFL conference against the team residing in the basement of the USFL division.
Although these two teams only had one win each heading into the game. The first score of the contest likely set the tone for the entire game. And that score came from former Minnesota Vikings cornerback Cameron Dantzler.

Brahmas quarterback Kevin Hogan looked for a pass to the sideline, but it was jumped by Dantzler. The defensive back returned the interception for six points and put the first points of the game on the scoreboard.
The game ended with the Memphis Showboats defeating the San Antonio Brahmas by a final score of 24-22 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. It was a hard-fought battle between two teams desperate to win a game and it ended up being only a two-point difference in the end.
Minnesota Vikings fans may remember that the season for the Brahmas started with quarterback Kellen Mond behind center. However, he was replaced during the season in favor of Kevin Hogan but so far that hasn’t yielded positive results.
Football fans may have to wait a while to get live NFL action on their televisions, but the UFL has been putting interesting games on television all season long to help those who need some pigskin action get a taste of the sport until teams like the Minnesota Vikings can return to action for the 2025 NFL season.
