NDSU Baseball Suffers Setback at St. Thomas

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The North Dakota State baseball team came up short in the series finale at St. Thomas, 9-2, on Sunday afternoon at Koch Diamond.

The Tommies (27-20, 19-8 Summit) opened up a 5-0 advantage through four innings after Adam Puder capped a three-run fourth frame with an RBI double to left field. St. Thomas then cracked the game open pushing across three more runs in the seventh to increase its lead to 9-0 with a two RBI single from Max Moris. Sam Canton and Colten Becker attempted to start late rally with a pair of RBI singles in the eighth, but the Bison (16-31, 12-15 Summit) went on to drop the contest, 9-2.

NDSU totaled eight hits as a team with Canton and Becker each going 2-of-4 at the plate with one RBI.

The Bison combined to use five different pitchers with Parker Puetz (1-2) making the start and going 1.2 innings. Skyler Riedinger provided a season-long 3.0 innings of relief and it marked his 83rd career appearance, which ties Kyle Kingsley (2010-13) for the most in program history. Hayden Sylte also chipped in 1.2 frames with one strikeout.

NDSU will be back in action hosting Omaha on Thursday. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m., at Newman Outdoor Field.
