BROOKINGS, S.D. – North Dakota State’s season came to a close Wednesday afternoon, falling 8-0 in five innings to North Dakota in the first round of the Summit League Championships at J.T. Moriarty Field.
The Bison threatened in the first inning but were unable to capitalize, having a runner tagged out at home and stranding two in the inning. North Dakota answered with a four-run bottom of the first, capitalizing on walks and an error with just one hit in the inning.
NDSU would put two on again in the second and then stranded the bases loaded in the third, part of nine runners left on base for the Bison in the game. North Dakota added a run in the second and then scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth to trigger the run-rule victory.
Senior Chloe Woldruff recorded a hit and a walk in her final game. Bella Dean also had a hit and a walk, with Amai Hanta recording the final Bison hit in the game. Rylee Henderson finished with two walks. Piper Reed picked up the loss, allowing the first four runs. Savy Williams tossed the remainder of the game, allowing four runs, two earned, with three strikeouts.
