FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State baseball team dropped a 5-4 decision against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in exhibition play on Wednesday night at Newman Outdoor Field in front of 1,908 fans.
After entering the ninth inning trailing, 5-2, Tate Martin lifted his second double of the contest down the left line before Evan Gustafson and Aiden Schenk walked. Blake Timmons kept the late rally going after he connected on two RBI single into center field. However, the RedHawks held off the Bison the rest of the way to earn the 5-4 win.
NDSU totaled nine hits as a team with Timmons going 2-of-5 at the plate with two RBI. Colten Becker and Martin also contributed two hits and one run each.
The Bison combined to use nine different pitchers with Matt Sargeant making the start with two strikeouts over 1.0 innings.
NDSU will be back in action at St. Thomas on Friday. First pitch is set for 3:00 p.m.
