GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Seattle Seahawks selected North Dakota State’s Grey Zabel with the 18th pick of the NFL Draft at Lambeau Field on Thursday, April 24.

Zabel joins former NDSU quarterbacks Carson Wentz (2016) and Trey Lance (2021) as the third Bison player to be drafted in the first round. He is the highest drafted offensive lineman in FCS history.

A two-time national champion, Zabel started the final 36 consecutive games of his career and totaled 41 starts over his five seasons including games at left tackle, right tackle, left guard and right guard. He was a first team FCS All-American at left tackle as a senior in 2024.

NDSU has had six offensive linemen drafted in the past 12 years with Zabel joining Billy Turner (2014), Joe Haeg (2016), Dillon Radunz (2021), Cordell Volson (2022) and Cody Mauch (2023).

With the Seahawks, Zabel will join former Bison offensive lineman Jalen Sundell, who will be entering his second NFL season after signing with Seattle in 2024 as an undrafted free agent.
