Kur, Kapitzke Headline Top Performers for Bison Women in California

The North Dakota State women’s track & field team opened competition at a pair of meets in southern California on Thursday.
 
At the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific University, Bison freshman Jenna DeBates posted a 10-second PR in the 5,000m, running 16:53.98 to rank 12th-fastest in school history. Fellow freshman Mia Hoffmann added a personal-best 16:55.38.
 
Freshmen Jaelyn Miller (2:11.57) and Reagan Berg (2:11.73) both ran personal-bests in the 800m at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
 
At the Pacific Coast Invitational hosted by Long Beach State, freshman Nyariek Kur cleared 5-07.75 (1.72m) in the high jump for a new personal-best.
 
Kur also took second in the triple jump, leaping 41-01.50 (12.53m). Sophomore Joy Nnantah placed third with a mark of 40-02.75 (12.26m) – the second-best jump of her career.
 
Grace VanErp posted a triple jump personal-best of 39-09.75 (12.13m) at Long Beach State.
 
Adison Kapitzke threw an outdoor shot put personal-best of 50-00.75 (15.26m) to tie for 11th-best in NDSU history. She also registered a personal-best 184-9 (56.33m) in the hammer throw.
 
Senior Grace Emineth placed fourth in the long jump with a mark of 20-03.50 (6.18m), and Ella Gardner was fifth at 19-06.00 (5.94m).
 
NDSU sophomore Reese Rogowski took seventh in the 400m dash at Long Beach State with a time of 56.09.
 
Kaci Cooper (1:01.58) and Kendal Stingle (PR 1:01.92) placed ninth and 10th in the 400m hurdles.
 
Anika Larson ran 11.89 in the 100m dash for 10th place.
 
Competition will continue in Long Beach and Azusa on Friday.
