ESTERO, Fla. – North Dakota State men’s golf opened up the Old Corkscrew Intercollegiate on Monday with the first two rounds of the event hosted by Florida Gulf Coast at Old Corkscrew Golf Club.
The Bison shot rounds of 299 and 311 on the first day to sit in last place in the 10-team field at +34.
Rylin Petry led the way for the Bison with rounds of 71 and 77 on the par-72 course. Petry sits at +4 in a tie for 20th overall in the 60-golfer field. Petry had five birdies and an eagle in the first round, but carded just two birdies in the second round as he dropped down the leaderboard after holding the lead early in the second round.
Ian Simonich was second on the day for the Bison, carding rounds of 74 and 78 to sit in a tie for 35th place at +8 overall. Simonich finished with three birdies on the day, two coming in the second round.
Jake Skarperud carded rounds of 80 and 74 over the opening 36 holes, sitting in a tie for 44th at +10. Josh Galvin shot a 74 in the first round to cap the Bison scoring, but added an 84 in the second round to fall into a tie for 52nd at +14.
Max Wilson shot back-to-back rounds of 82, with his second-round score capping the scoring for the Bison in the round. He sits in 58th at +20. Sean Moore, playing as an individual, shot rounds of 78 and 89 to sit in 59th at +23.
The Bison will wrap up the Old Corkscrew Intercollegiate on Tuesday with the third and final round.
