LAS VEGAS – The North Dakota State women’s track & field team wrapped up two days of competition at the UNLV Rebel Invite on Saturday, with the Bison jumpers and sprinters posting strong performances.
Freshman Nyariek Kur won the triple jump with a personal-best 41-04.25 (12.60m), ranking eighth in NDSU outdoor history. Senior Grace Emineth went 40-06.25 (12.35m) in the triple jump for third place, ranking 11th on the NDSU all-time list.
NDSU’s Arienne Birch cleared 5-10.50 (1.79m) in the high jump for second place, behind only three-time USA Olympian Vashti Cunningham.
Freshman Elise Wisnewski ran 23.70 in the 200m dash to rank fourth-fastest in NDSU history. Sophomore Anika Larson clocked 23.74 for fifth on the NDSU all-time list.
Four Bison women placed in the top 10 of the 100m dash, led by Larson in 11.61, Wisnewski in 11.73, and Riika Tirkkonen in 11.76. While those three times were all wind-aided, NDSU freshman Paige Renschler ran a personal-best and wind-legal 11.78 to rank 10th in NDSU history.
Tirkkonen, Wisnewski, Renschler and Larson teamed up to clock 45.87 in the 4x100m relay for third place in the meet. They rank eighth-fastest in school history.
Julia Gherardi cleared 13-00.75 (3.98m) in the pole vault for second place and the second-best outdoor mark of her career.
Alex Seagris placed third in the javelin with a throw of 151-3 (46.12m).
Sophomore Reese Rogowski recorded an outdoor 400m PR of 55.24 for fifth place in the meet.
Marvelous Onwualo (14.06) and Laney Songster (14.08) both ran season-bests in the 100m hurdles.
Kaci Cooper took ninth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:01.82, and Kendal Stingle placed 10th with a personal-best 1:02.43.
At the Mike Fanelli Track Classic in San Francisco, the Bison women turned in three personal-best performances in the 800m. Grace Link led the crew in 2:11.43, and Jaelyn Miller (2:12.11), Reagan Berg (2:12.68), and Acey Elkins (2:14.08) all posted PRs.
The Bison are scheduled to compete at home on Friday, Apr. 11.
