NDSU Softball Opens Home Schedule With Omaha Series

FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State softball will open up the home schedule this weekend with a three-game series against Omaha in Summit League play. The Bison are set for a doubleheader on Saturday at Tharaldson Park, beginning at 2 p.m., with a single game to close out the series on Sunday at noon.
 
Game Coverage
All three games of the series between the Bison and Mavericks will be streamed live on The Summit League Network. A subscription to the Summit League Network is needed to view the games. All games will also include live statistics. Links to the streams and stats will be available on the softball schedule page on gobison.com.
 
Bison 1660
All three games of the series will be broadcast live on Bison 1660, with the audio simulcast on the Summit league Network stream. Brad Anderson and Andy Rieckhoff will have the call of the action from Tharaldson Park.
 
Ticket and Parking Information
All seating at Tharaldson Park is general admission and tickets can be purchased at the gate on game day. Adult tickets are $10. Youth (3-17 yrs) tickets are $5. Gates open 60 minutes prior to game time. No pets or outside food and beverages are allowed inside the gate at Tharaldson Park. Parking for all Bison softball games is available in Lot NQ and along 17th Avenue, with overflow parking in Lot RP.
 
Series History
North Dakota State and Omaha have met 81 times in series history heading into the weekend, the fifth-most played series for the Bison program. Omaha leads the series, which began on May 11, 1978, by 50-31. However, since the move to Division I in 2005, the Bison lead the Mavericks 18-16. Omaha swept the Bison in three games last season and took two of three from NDSU on its last trip to Fargo in 2023, including a 10-inning nail biter, 3-2.
 
Hanta, Bison Sit Atop League In Stolen Bases
Freshman Amai Hanta entered league play with a splash, swiping seven bases in the series at Kansas City. She entered league play in the top spot in the league in stolen bases and grew her total to 15 on the year, which also ranks 66th nationally. Her stolen base percentage of .938 ranks 15th nationally. NDSU has recorded 32 stolen bases (in 37 attempts) this season, which also leads the league lead. The Bison closed out last season with 44 stolen bases, .815 per game. NDSU is averaging 1.00 stolen bases per game this season.
 
Tough Outs
The Bison lead the Summit League in fewest strikeouts at the plate this season. NDSU has just 88 strikeouts in 919 total plate appearances, striking out just 9.6 percent of the time. The league average is 15.4 percent and South Dakota State is the second closest at 125, striking out 11.6 percent of the time. Zoe King also leads the Bison and the Summit League in Toughest to Strikeout Ratio, at one per 47.5 trips to the plate, which ranks 17th nationally.
 
Turning Two
North Dakota State leads the Summit League and ranks 33rd nationally this season with 15 double plays turned, including three in the Summit League opening series at Kansas City two weeks ago. The Bison turned just 16 double plays last season.
 
Henderson, Woldruff, Warren Leading Bison Since Mexico
Rylee Henderson, Chloe Woldruff and Taylinn Warren have been dominant at the plate over the last month, since returning from Mexico, with the three leading the way for the Bison at the plate. Henderson leads the group, hitting .422 and has a team leading 18 RBIs and eight runs scored. Warren is hitting .390 with five RBIs and 13 runs scored. Woldruff is hitting .362 and has 13 RBIs along with seven runs. After the first two weeks, the trio had a combined six hits (.130 avg) with no RBIs and just one run scored.
