NDSU Men’s Golf Climbs Two Spots on Day Two at Torrey Pines

LA JOLLA, Calif. – The North Dakota State men’s golf team climbed two spots on the second day of the UC San Diego Invitational at Torrey Pines. Ian Simonich and Rylin Petry both sit inside the top 10, while the Bison sit in a tie for sixth.
 
Petry led the Bison on the day, climbing the leaderboard into a tie for ninth after firing a -1 round of 71 on the South Course. Petry had three birdies in the round and sits at +5 after two of three rounds for the event.
 
Simonich fired an even-par round of 72 on the day as he jumped five spots up the leaderboard to a tie for third at +2. Simonich had two birdies in the round and also carded 14 pars on the day.
 
Jake Skarperud and Josh Galvin wrapped up the scoring for the Bison in the round. Skarperud scored a pair of birdies in a +5 round of 77, while Galvin also had two birdies as he finished with a +8 round of 80. Skarperud sits in a tie for 50th at +11, while Josh Galvin is in a tie for 65th at +13.
 
Max Wilson wrapped up the day for the Bison with a +9 round of 81, scoring one birdie in the round as he sits in a tie for 87th in the 111-golfer field at +16.
 
The Bison wrap up the UC San Diego Invitational on Tuesday with the third and final round. A shotgun start is scheduled for 7 a.m. PT/9 a.m. CT from Torrey Pines.
