SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The North Dakota State men’s track & field team opened the outdoor season on Friday, competing at the UTSA Invitational.
Bison senior Hunter Klimek won the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:16.57.
Senior Zack Ramos was the runner-up in the shot put with a throw of 58-2 (17.73m).
Sophomore Jack Packer recorded a big personal-best of 179-2 (54.60m) in the hammer throw to take third in the meet. Packer placed seventh in the shot put with a mark of 52-8 (16.05m).
Sam Roller posted the second-best javelin mark of his career, throwing 202-6 (61.73m) to place third in the meet. Sophomore Peter Dryburgh was seventh with a throw of 183-8 (55.97m).
Sophomore Jayden Williams posted a wind-aided long jump mark of 24-03.75 (7.41m) to finish third. Freshman Reece Grosserode had a wind-aided 23-5 (7.14m) for fifth place.
Will Gerber finished the 5,000m in 14:59.35 for third place.
Competition will continue on Saturday at UTSA.
