NDSU Baseball Falls at Oklahoma State

STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State scored in each of the first six innings to down the North Dakota State baseball team, 9-1, on Tuesday night at O’Brate Stadium.

The Cowboys (10-8, 0-1 Big 12) grabbed a 3-0 lead after Brayden Smith delivered an RBI single into center field in the second inning. Oklahoma State, who is receiving votes in the latest USA Today Top 25 Coaches Poll, cracked the game open in the third frame after Nolan Schubart connected on a solo home run and Ian Daugherty finished the inning with a two-run home run to push the lead to 6-0. The Cowboys then added three more runs before Colten Becker connected on an RBI single in the eighth, but the Bison (4-15, 2-1 Summit) couldn’t get anything going the rest of the way and dropped the contest, 9-1.

Garrett Shupe (0-2) made his second career start tossing a season-high five strikeouts with one walk over 3.0 innings. Landon Koenig added two strikeouts over 1.0 innings, while Hayden Sylte finished the final 2.0 frames with three strikeouts.

NDSU will conclude its midweek series at Oklahoma State tomorrow. First pitch has been moved up to 2:00 p.m.
