Highlights: Gopher Baseball Gets Midweek Win Over St. Thomas

The Golden Gophers (9-10, 2-4 Big Ten) picked up the 8-2 victory over St. Thomas (9-7, 3-0 Summit League) Wednesday night.

Freshman Adam Urban (1-0) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Minnesota (9-10). The right-hander went 1.1 shutout innings while giving up one hit. Senior Justin Thorsteinson also made an impact on the mound for the Golden Gophers, starting the ballgame and throwing two shutout innings while allowing no hits, with no walks and two strikeouts. Eli Sundqusit picked up the save after throwing 2.2 with four strikeouts.

In the batter’s box, the Golden Gophers were led by junior Easton Richter, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a home run, a walk and two RBI. Junior Jake Elbeery put together a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-2 with a double, two walks and an RBI. Sophomore Jack Spanier also contributed for Minnesota, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding a walk and two RBI.
