SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The No. 4 seed North Dakota State men’s basketball team lost 85-84 to No. 5 seed South Dakota in the quarterfinals of the Summit League Tournament on Friday night at the Denny Sanford Premier Center.
The Bison fell to 21-11 with the loss.
Junior Tajavis Miller led NDSU with a career-best 26 points and eight rebounds, adding three assists, two blocks and a steal. Senior Masen Miller scored 19 points. Freshman point guard Andy Stefonowicz finished with a season-best 16 points, six assists and five rebounds.
With 11 three-pointers in the game, NDSU set the Summit League’s single-season record for threes with 380. The Bison made 11-of-23 (48 percent) from beyond the arc.
NDSU led 75-64 with 5:30 remaining, but South Dakota went on a 15-3 run over the next four minutes to go ahead 79-78. USD made six free throws in the final 1:06.
The Bison led for 36 of the game’s 40 minutes.
