Bison Open Summit League Tournament Friday vs. South Dakota

The Tournament: The No. 4-seeded North Dakota State men’s basketball team will play No. 5 seed South Dakota in the quarterfinals of the Summit League Tournament on Friday, March 7, at 6 p.m. inside the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. The winner will play the winner of No. 1 seed Omaha and No. 8 Kansas City or No. 9 Oral Roberts in the first semifinal on Saturday night.
 
Where to Watch: First round and quarterfinal games of the men’s Summit League Tournament will be broadcast on Midco Sports and be streamed on the Summit League Network via the Midco Sports Plus app. The semifinals and championship game will be on CBS Sports Network.
 
Radio: Sam Neidermann (play-by-play) and Dexter Werner (analyst) will call the games on 107.9 The Fox and Bison 1660. Broadcasts can also be streamed on the NDSU Athletics app, as well as at GoBison.com/AllAccess for free.
 
Against South Dakota: Friday will be the 193rd meeting all-time between NDSU and South Dakota, with the Bison leading the series 107-85. In the Division I era, NDSU owns a 22-9 record against the Coyotes.
 
This Year vs. South Dakota: NDSU won both games against the Coyotes this year, winning 103-77 in Vermillion on Jan. 18 and 82-78 in Fargo on Feb. 26. Jacari White averaged 26 points in the two victories, and Tajavis Miller averaged 17 for the Bison.
 
What’s at Stake: NDSU is looking for its fifth league tournament title in 12 years and its sixth NCAA Tournament berth in school history.
 
Bison in Sioux Falls: NDSU is 25-11 all-time in Sioux Falls at the Summit League Tournament. The Bison are 18-7 at the Summit League Tournament in the Dave Richman era.
 
Tradition of Success: NDSU has played in 9 of the past 12 Summit League Tournament championship games, dating back to 2013. The Bison played in five consecutive league championship games from 2019-23.
 
Long Range Attack: The Bison rank second in the country with 11.9 three-pointers made per game. NDSU is fourth nationally in three-point percentage at 39.6 percent this season.
 
High Efficiency: The Bison are ranked first nationally in effective field goal percentage at 58.3 percent, according to KenPom.
 
Racking ’em Up: NDSU has set a single-season school record with 369 three-pointers made. The Bison broke the record on Feb. 15 vs. Denver — the 28th game of the year.

National Leaderboard: Masen Miller ranks third in Division I this season for three-point percentage at 45.7 percent. Jacksen Moni ranks 11th in the nation for scoring at 20.6 points per game.
 
Climbing the List: Jacari White (88) is No. 2 on the NDSU single-season list for three-pointers made, with Masen Miller (85) close behind tied for No. 3 on the list. Lawrence Alexander holds the NDSU record with 104 three-pointers in the 2014-15 season.
 
Key Piece: The Bison are 12-2 this season when Jacksen Moni scores 20-plus points.
 
The Big Distributor: Jacksen Moni is one of only five players in the nation 6-10 or taller to average at least 3.7 assists per game this season.
 
Four Double-Doublers: Four different Bison recorded double-doubles in Summit League play: Noah Feddersen, Jacksen Moni, Tajavis Miller, and Darik Dissette.
 
Recent Milestones: Jacksen Moni surpassed 2,000 points for his career on Feb. 13 vs. Oral Roberts. He totaled 1,527 points in three seasons at Division II Northern State and has scored 557 this season.
          Jacari White reached 1,000 points for his career in the same game, becoming the 41st player to reach 1,000 career points for NDSU.

  • Jacksen Moni is averaging 25.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game.

The Bombs Away Bison™: NDSU is attempting three-pointers at the highest rate in Division I this season. According to KenPom, 54.1 percent of NDSU’s shots attempted this year have been three-pointers – the highest percentage in the nation.
