BATON ROUGE, La. – The North Dakota State baseball team opened up a 7-1 lead before falling short at No. 2 LSU on Tuesday night at Alex Box Stadium in front of 9,892 fans.

Kyle Law set the tone for the Bison (1-10) in the opening frame with his first career RBI triple to make the score 1-0, before Davis Hamilton drove in another with an RBI single of his own to increase the lead to 2-0. Hamilton then got home after Tate Martin walked with the bases loaded to push the edge to 3-0. The Bison increased their lead with four runs in the third, including two on errors to make the score 7-1 in the third inning.

LSU (12-1), who entered the week ranked No. 2 in the USA Today Coaches Top 25 Poll, answered with four runs in the bottom half of the third frame to cut the deficit to 7-5 after Cade Arrambide connected on a two-run home run.

After the Bison scored two more runs on a passed ball and a wild pitch, the Tigers used a two-run home run off the bat of Daniel Dickinson to cut the edge to 9-7 in the fourth. LSU continued to surge pushing across two more runs in the sixth, including an RBI double from Steven Milam to lock the contest, 6-6. Following a scoreless seventh, Milam added another double down the right line in the eighth. The two-run shot sealed the 11-9 win for the Tigers.

The Bison notched six hits as a team with Tommy Simon going 2-of-4 at the plate with one RBI. Hamilton also added three runs with one hit and one RBI.
