NDSU Women Win 16th Summit League Indoor Title in 18 Years

BROOKINGS, S.D. – The North Dakota State women’s track & field team won its 16th title in 18 years at the Summit League Indoor Championships on Saturday.
 
Combined with 15 outdoor team titles, the NDSU women have now won 31 out of 34 team conference championships since joining The Summit League in 2008.
 
The Bison women claimed two more event titles on the final day of the meet, and used a collection of high finishes to roll to the team crown. NDSU finished with 188 points, and North Dakota came in second with 151.
 
Sophomore Arienne Birch made it a perfect 3-for-3 in Summit League high jump titles in her career, clearing a season-best 5-09.75 (1.77m) for the win.
 
Ella Gardner won her second event title of the meet, taking the triple jump crown on her final attempt with a personal-best 41-01.50 (12.53m) to win by an inch. She is now tied for fifth on the NDSU all-time indoor list.
 
The Bison women finished 1-3-4-7 in the triple jump, with Grace Emineth third, Nyariek Kur fourth, and Joy Nnantah seventh behind Gardner.
 
Sophomore sprinter Anika Larson took runner-up honors in both the 60m dash and 200m dash. She matched her personal-best with a time of 7.41 in the 60m, and ran a personal-best 23.93 in the 200m to rank second in NDSU indoor history.
 
Sydney Arndt was the runner-up in the 60m hurdles, clocking 8.30 to tie her personal-best that ranks third in school history. Marvelous Onwualo took fifth place in 8.48.
 
Adison Kapitzke was the runner-up in the shot put, throwing 48-00.00 (14.63m). Riley Quinn took fourth at 46-03.25 (14.10m), and Alex Seagris threw a personal-best 45-01.50 (13.75m) for eighth place.
 
Senior Jacee Johannsen cleared a lifetime-best 13-10.00 (4.22m) to place third in the pole vault. She is No. 2 in NDSU indoor history.
 
The Bison placed four women in the mile, with Reagan Baesler third, Grace Link fourth, Jaelyn Miller (PR 4:52.19) fifth, and Reagan Berg eighth.
 
Baesler ran an indoor 5,000m personal-best of 16:48.81, placing fourth in the meet and ranking sixth in school history.
 
The Bison women finished 3-4-5 in the 400m dash final. Allie Niska placed third in a personal-best 54.40 to rank fifth in NDSU history. Reese Rogowski took fourth in a personal-best 54.83, ranking ninth on the all-time list. Kaci Cooper finished fifth in a personal-best 55.19.
 
Rogowski, Cooper, Riika Tirkkonen and Elise Wisnewski ran 3:42.27 for second place in the 4x400m relay. They rank ninth on the NDSU all-time indoor list.
 
Wisnewski placed fourth in the 200m in 24.39 – tying her PR – and took sixth in the 60m at 7.62.
 
Allison Otto-Fitzsimons placed fourth in the pole vault, clearing a personal-best 13-04.25 (4.07m) to move up to No. 5 on the NDSU all-time indoor list.
