FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State women’s basketball team drained a season-high 13 three-pointers to help pick up a 93-67 win over Kansas City on Thursday night inside the Scheels Center at the Sanford Health Athletic Complex.
Five Bison (18-10, 10-5 Summit) reached double digits in scoring with Avery Koenen recording her third 20-point game in the last four games with a game-best 20 points and nine rebounds. Abby Krzewinski netted a career-best 18 points on 4-of-5 shooting from three, while Marisa Frost tallied 15 points off the bench. Abbie Draper also added in 14 points with five rebounds and Molly Lenz posted 10 points.
As a team, the Bison scored a season-high 93 points and netted a season-best 13 three-pointers with six different players contributing at least one. NDSU also shot 57.6 percent (34-59) from the field and 66.7 percent (12-18) from the free throw line.
After both teams traded points throughout the first quarter, the Bison stole momentum outscoring the Roos (11-19, 7-8 Summit), 24-9, in the second frame. NDSU used an 8-0 run with five points from Krzewinski to stretch its lead into double figures, 39-24, with 3:09 to play in the half. The Bison carried the energy into the third quarter opening up their largest lead of the contest, 73-45, with a triple from Krzewinski with 33 seconds to play the frame. NDSU went on to close out Kansas City for the 93-67 win.
NDSU will wrap regular season play hosting Omaha for senior day on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
