No. 21 Dallas Baptist Edges NDSU Baseball, 5-2

DALLAS – The North Dakota State baseball team came up short at No. 21 Dallas Baptist, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon at Horner Ballpark

Kyle Law gave the Bison (0-2) the early 1-0 lead with an RBI double into right field in the opening frame. Three innings later, Colten Becker stretched the advantage to 2-0 after he connected on an RBI ground out to score Davis Hamilton in the fourth. Dallas Baptist responded in the bottom half pushing across three runs to steal the lead, 3-2, after Dylan Schlaegel sent an RBI double up the middle. The Patriots then added two insurance runs in the eighth to put the game out of reach, 5-2, with an RBI single off the bat of Joey Nerat.

The Bison pitching staff combined for 12 strikeouts with Logan Knight (0-1) making the start on the hill throwing four strikeouts over 4.2 frames. Danny Lachenmayer, who was making his Bison debut, also added five strikeouts in relief with no walks over 2.0 innings.

NDSU will conclude its series at Dallas Baptist tomorrow. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
