NDSU Baseball Drops Midweek at Lamar

BEAUMONT, Texas – The North Dakota State baseball team came up short in its first midweek game of the season at Lamar, 10-3, on Tuesday afternoon in rainy conditions at Vincent-Beck Stadium.

The Cardinals (3-1) quickly plated three runs in each of the first two innings to open up a 6-0 advantage with a single to left center off the bat of Zane Spinn. After Lamar extended its lead to 8-0 with a two-run home run in the third inning, Noah Gordon attempted to the spark the Bison (0-4) with his first career home run to right field. The two-run shot made the score 8-2 in the sixth inning. However, the Cardinals held off the Bison rest of the way to secure the 10-3 win.

Luke Agnew (0-1) made his Bison debut on the mound with one strikeout over 1.2 innings. Julien Hachem closed out the final 2.0 innings with a team-best three strikeouts. Alex Karns and Austin Bergum also made appearances out of the bullpen for the Bison.

Gorden led the way for NDSU going 2-of-4 at the plate with two RBI and one run. Colten Becker also added one hit with one RBI.

NDSU will be back in action at Lamar tomorrow. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m.
