NDSU Baseball Falls in Series Finale at No. 21 Dallas Baptist

DALLAS – The North Dakota State baseball team dropped an 11-1 decision in the series finale at No. 21 Dallas Baptist on Sunday afternoon at Horner Ballpark.

Jake Schaffner got the Bison (0-3) off to a fast start with a leadoff home run to right field. It was his first of the season to make the score 1-0 in the first inning. The Patriots (3-0) responded in the bottom half pushing across three runs to steal the lead, 3-2, after Grant Jay got home on a caught stealing rundown.

After the Patriots scored two more runs on an RBI double in the third frame, Dallas Baptist put the game out of reach scoring five runs on four hits in the fourth to extend its lead to 10-1. DBU went on to close out the contest, 11-1.

Tate Martin (0-1) made his collegiate debut tossing one strikeout over 3.0 innings. The Bison used six different pitchers in relief with Julien Hachem tossing a team-best two strikeouts over 1.0 innings.

NDSU will continue its road swing at Lamar on Tuesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
